Book excerpt: This study examines energy firms' stock returns' behaviour, when they announce mergers and acquisitions. The methodology used is event study analysis. The particular companies that were selected are companies from all over the world and are divided into four regions. Companies' selected taking into consideration the market where they are listed, if they are bidders or targets, if they are domestic or not, the value of the transaction and the year of announcement. Findings show that mergers and acquisitions add financial value on energy firms' shares.
