Thomas Roberts's birth parents instructed two loyal guardians to take the child to the human world to hide and protect him. A young Mary Jane Roberts, just widowed and broken-hearted, follows a strange image that mysteriously leads her to a newborn baby in her barley field on Hog Hill Farm. Unable to find the child's mother, Mary Jane Roberts names the child Thomas Roberts and claims him as her own.
