Book excerpt: The human body is composed of physical matter; it possesses characteristics common to all matter that is: "extension in space and the capacity for movement." If the body is matter then the laws of physics and mechanics that account for movement and action in the physical world must also apply to its functioning. It is appropriate to use the machine analogy and think of the human being as a biological machine; no different than other machines made up of atoms and set in motion by energy. Human functioning and mobility is governed by electro-mechanical laws; as complex as they may be, they are the same laws that regulate the universe: "atoms in motion". Studying this phenomena and how atoms works inside the human body is the key to understanding why man get ill and die. We can envisage the changes that will occur if we take this approach to restoring human life to longevity.
