Art-ists are artists not because they exercise their God-given right to make art, but rather because of their resistance to making art objects, and that takes courage. Art-ists reject the physical and ideological wrappings of art and make their life their art. To Art-ists, art as a meritorious object is superfluous to their needs, more like roadkill. They believe that art as a work of accomplishment is idolatry because it only confirms the group in its power. Art-ists seek to define their lives by the most negligible, minor, and inconsequential accomplishments. To Art-ists, the true purpose of art is to return thoughts, feelings, and ideas to the ether just as a Celtic whistle returns the tune to Heaven. Apparently, Heaven is greedy.
