Book excerpt: This dissertation consists of two essays that deal with enforcement issues in trade protection and collusion, respectively. Existing literature in these areas assumes that interested parties fully commit to their contractual arrangements. However, we often observe that those parties have incentives to renege on agreements regarding trade protection and collusion. In this respect, this dissertation examines the ways in which the behaviors of relevant parties and equilibrium outcomes change due to the lack of enforcement.
