Perlman (philosophy, Western Oregon University) criticizes the way all contemporary theories of mental representation seek to account for misrepresentation, and concludes that it cannot be explained naturalistically. He formulates a naturalistic theory of representation that accepts the conclusion that there is no misrepresentation, and adds a pragmatic theory of content, which explains apparent misrepresentation as concept change.
