Book excerpt: Am I making a difference? God has given us tools for the transformation of people's lives. There is power in God's Word, when we use it. There is power in the presence of God's Spirit working in a life. There is even power in the fellowship of God's people who know how to build up one another. There is also power in the disciple-making process of spiritual parenting, and in organizing our churches to multiply disciples of Christ. The essence of leadership is portraying Christ by modeling these spiritual tools. It's time more of us hit the bull's eye in ministry. For then our legacy of ministry will simply be the work of the Lord through us, to His glory. Join fictional Pastor Jay and elder Harry of First Church as they learn to use these tools. Pastor Rich Reid writes out of a lifetime of ministry. Having come to Christ through a Billy Graham television show, he was discipled in his walk with Christ while serving in the United States Air Force. He grew in his witness at the Long Beach Servicemen's Center, and was mentored in ministry to collegians by Dr. Chuck Miller in Pasadena. After receiving a Master of Arts degree from Wheaton Graduate School and a Master of Divinity degree from Grace Theological Seminary, he pastored three churches over twenty six years. He is currently employed by Interim Pastor Ministries. He also started Paraclete Ministries to do in-church training seminars. His publications include small group curricula and "Cancer-Why Me? What Now?" and "The Power of United Leadership." Contact him at [email protected].
