Book excerpt: Measles and rubella vaccination is an integral part of immunization programmes worldwide, contributing to progress towards achieving global immunization goals and, more broadly, the Global Health Security Agenda and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Measles and rubella vaccination is also central to the Immunization Agenda 2030 (IA2030) by stimulating progress towards universal health coverage (UHC) and equity in immunization. It has the potential to stimulate implementation of life course vaccination by strengthening second year of life (2YL) platforms for the delivery of the second dose of measles-containing vaccine (MCV2) and school based immunization delivery platforms for catch-up vaccination.
