Book excerpt: At a very young age, Deborah began teaching the children in the neighborhood about Moses' Laws and told her mother that some day she would be the judge of Israel. Her mother was not amused. Deborah did become the judge and she asked God for wisdom when a difficult case came to her court. She also warned the Israelites that unless they gave up their idols, they would not see relief from their enemies. When Barak was general of the Israelite army, he insisted that Deborah go with him into battle against the Canaanites. With her faith, he knew they would win. The problems that came up with her work and family didn't always let Deborah have a peacefull life.
