Book excerpt: This report presents information collected from 2,056 recently arrested powder cocaine, crack cocaine, and heroin users from Chicago, Manhattan, Portland, OR, San Antonio, San Diego, and Washington, D.C. It highlights information concerning where and how arrestees obtained and used drugs. Researchers used a survey with approximately 100 questions to gather information. The analysis revealed significant differences within and across drug types, no matter what demographic or summary measure was considered. Unless otherwise specified, the results include adult males and females but exclude juveniles. Includes 31 tables.
