This book was released on 1992 with total page 12 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the final report on the development of a new laser-based combustion diagnostic for the quantitative measurement of both major and minor species in high-pressure flames. The technique, Asynchronous Optical Sampling (ASOPS), is a state-of-the-art improvement in picosecond pump/probe spectroscopy. A method is presented for vastly improving the output of the synchronously mode-locked dye laser systems. The beat frequency is increased to 155.7 kHz. Subnanosecond excited-state lifetimes for Na are obtained with only 128 averages, for the first time allowing data to be obtained within the time scale of turbulence. The first quantitative evaluation of the ASOPS technique in a flame environment is presented. Pump/probe spectroscopy, Laser diagnostics, Combustion, Stimulated emission.
