Book excerpt: Excerpt from An Oration in Commemoration of the Birth of Our Illustrious Washington At a Regular Meeting of the Washington Benevolent Society of the County of Windsor, holden at Pettes's Hall, Hon. Jonathan H. Hubbard, Vice President, in the Chair, - the following Resolution was read, and unanimously adopted; - and Horace Everett, Esq. Hon. Lewis R. Morris, and Capt. William Tileston, were appointed a Committee to carry the same into effect. "Resolved That the thanks of this Society be presented to their President, for his excellent Oration, delivered at their request, on the Anniversary of our beloved Washington; - and that a Copy be requested for the Press." Attest - Thomas M. Pomroy, Sec'ry To an application from the above named Committee, in pursuance of the foregoing Resolution, the President returned the following answer. Gentlemen, I hope I duly appreciate the partiality, with which the performance in question was received, as well as the polite manner, in which the sense of the Society has been communicated.
